The Benefits of Invisalign

Invisalign® is a popular treatment option for many teen and adult patients. People choose Invisalign® for its:

  • Comfort – Conventional braces are bulky and can irritate the soft tissues of the mouth, but Invisalign® is made with a thin, smooth plastic that fits flush against your teeth.
  • Convenience – Invisalign® doesn’t interfere with your life the way braces do. You’ll need fewer visits to the dentist, you’ll be able to continue to eat your favorite foods, and your oral hygiene habits will remain unchanged.
  • Predictability – Invisalign® uses advanced digital dentistry technology for a more controlled orthodontic treatment. The movements of each tooth are carefully planned using a 3D model of your teeth and jaw for predictable results. Dr. Godfrey can even show you a preview of what your smile will look like once your treatment is complete.
  • Invisibility – Invisalign® is the most discreet orthodontic treatment option available, so your coworkers and acquaintances won’t even realize you’re wearing aligners.

Invisalign® Process

Invisalign® clear aligner

When you see Dr. Godfrey for an Invisalign® consultation, he will evaluate your teeth and jaw, discuss your dental history with you, and determine whether Invisalign® is the right option for your needs. Should you decide to move forward with your treatment, we will take photographs and digital impressions of your teeth, allowing Dr. Godfrey to create a 3D model of your smile for treatment planning. Your unique treatment plan is sent to Invisalign®, where your aligners are custom-made just for you.

Every two weeks, or as directed by Dr. Godfrey, you’ll move to the next set of aligners in your treatment plan. To make sure your treatment is on the right track, you’ll visit our office every four to six weeks so we can monitor your progress. When you’re done with your final set of aligners, we’ll provide you with custom-designed clear retainers so you can maintain your results for decades to come.

Frequently Asked Questions About Invisalign®

Is Invisalign less expensive than braces?

Invisalign is less expensive than ceramic braces and lingual braces, but the price is comparable to that of metal braces, usually either slightly less or more, depending on your orthodontic case.

Can your teeth move back after Invisalign?

Just as with any orthodontic treatment, your teeth can move back after Invisalign if you don’t wear your retainers as directed.

Can you eat with Invisalign in?

You should always remove your Invisalign aligners before eating. Eating with your aligners in place can damage them and leave your teeth vulnerable to decay.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

According to Invisalign, the average treatment time is between 12 and 18 months, although if you need only minor orthodontic correction, your treatment may take less than a year.
